Industrialised Construction

Our 5th EESBN event welcomed Paul Inch, Strata Consultancy, as our guest speaker. He shared a valuable presentation about one of the biggest challenges we’re facing, how do we hit our carbon reduction targets while meeting the tough new requirements of the Building Safety Act?
Some of the key points included:
The reality is that all buildings now face much stricter compliance rules, and clients are having to take a completely different approach to managing safety risks throughout a building’s entire life. Even low-rise housing projects need rock-solid evidence of compliance.
Paul shared some fascinating case studies, both the success stories and the ones that didn’t go so well, from fire safety to carbon reduction.
There was also interesting discussion about the government’s shift from MMC to “Industrialised Construction” and how this could help tackle the skills shortages we’re all struggling with in different regions.
We looked at practical solutions like the “golden thread” of information and the Open Source Kit of Parts, which shows that making buildings safer doesn’t have to break the bank.
